Unilag Students Will Have Double Certificates Through the EIBIC Program

University of Lagos (UNILAG) has introduced a new Academic programme called the Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Business Incubation Certification (EIBIC), which will make it possible for students to receive double certificates when they graduate.

Professor Ayodele Atsenuwa, UNILAG’s deputy vice chancellor for development services, announced this during the program’s launch two days ago at UNILAG.

Prof. Atsenuwa said the EIBIC program was designed to start with 100-level students and aimed to bridge socioeconomic gaps in the country while preparing students for the future job market.

She emphasized that entrepreneurship is crucial for economic growth and that the EIBIC program is a Senate-approved course at UNILAG, not merely an optional activity.

Also, Professor Sunday Adebisi, who is the current Director of the Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Centre, further said that students will receive EIBIC certificates in addition to their respective degree certificates upon completion of the program.

According to him, this makes UNILAG the first university to offer two honours or degrees, ensuring that students complete both the EIBIC program and their academic degrees before graduation.

Adebisi said the program’s calendar has been designed, making it mandatory for students to complete it to receive their degree awards.

The goal is to equip students with dual capacities, enhancing their employ-ability and entrepreneurial skills, he added.

Our Thoughts on the Double Certificates News

This is a welcome development and students will be happy with this, as long as useful skills are what are being considered. Times have changed, and for graduates to be employable, they must have useful skills.
